The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man, Haruna Mohamed alleged to have infected a 12 year old girl with Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) in Dass Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement said: “The suspect, Sabo Korau, of Unguwan Dawaki, Dass Local Government Area was arrested for having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl. He has been having sex with her since 2012. When the victim began to show symptoms, she was taken to the hospital, where she tested positive to HIV”.
The statement added: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect took advantage of the girl, who was a groundnut seller.
“He tested positive to HIV and has been on medication since 2004.”
The police spokesperson said the case is under investigation and that upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court.
