TAMALE COMMERCIAL sex workers at King Guest house, a suburb of Sabonjida and Nagasaki, a popular joint in the metropolis, have pasted notices indicating price hikes in the services rendered to their clientele.

Snippets of information gathered by the DAILY HERITAGE indicate thatthe move is to avoid the confrontations that ensue between the sex workers and their patrons anytime there is a rise in fees charged.

Again, the increment, according to commercial sex workers, is a reflection of the high cost of toiletries and condoms that are used for the business.

The commercial sex workers told the DAILY HERTIAGE that fee paid for short time sex which initially was GHc10.00 has been moved to Ghc20.00, and Ghc15.00.

If the prostitute is agrees to stay with the client for a full night, the cost of that service is pegged at GHc 100.00. In addition, related services like massaging, etc., attract an extra cost of Ghc10.00 and Ghc5.00 respectively.

Nancy Asenso, one of the sex workers, who spoke to the paper in an interview, explained that the price of Brazilian hair, pomade, tight fitting pants and skimpy skirts that beautify and endear them to their customers have shot up.

She contended that a box of condoms, utility bills have all sky-rocketed. She further indicated that they have dependents that they cater for as well as other medical expenses.

She lamented that since the new price was adjusted, most of their young clients have stopped patronizing their service.

Nancy bemoaned the rising cost of living and goods on the market due to fuel prices.

The country in recent times is so distressing; therefore in order to safeguard the profession and also be aligned with the economic predicament, we need to review the old fees, she intimated.

The prostitutes however proposed that the government should regularize their business to enable them pay tax and contribute their quota to national development.
