People of Asogli in the Volta Region today completed a week of fasting and prayer.
Disillusioned chiefs and people of the area, fed up after placing their hopes for socio-economic development on the government, turned to divine intervention.
They called on God to heal their land and turn around the economic plight the Region is facing.
Togbe Kotoku XI Paramount Chief of Kpenoe Traditional Area and Co-ordinator of the event told Joy Newsthat relentless lobbying by the chiefs and demonstrations by the youth have not yielded the desired result.
"We have realised the region and for that matter, the capital have been neglected" he said, adding that although governments come and go, the people of the region "have tried to support government over the years but still we're not seeing changes."
Roads and jobs for the youth have been major concerns of the people of the Volta Region for several years, with several demonstrations by the youth in protest of the apparent neglect of the Region.
At the end of a week-long fasting and prayer programme in Ho, the Chiefs say they’re confident the Volta region has been delivered from evil forces believed to be drawing the region back.
