Following the havoc which was caused by last Wednesday’s heavy downpour amidst the fire explosion that claimed hundreds of human lives at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, the New Africa Foundation has stepped in to contribute their quota.
The well orchestrated intervention is to put smiles on the faces of victims who were hit hard by the disaster.
The Chief Executive Officer of the group and President of the Petronia City Development, Nana Kwame Bediako, in an interview with Peacefmonline.com stated that their presence in the area is to extend their sincere condolence to the affected people and donate to them relief items that could provide comfort to them.
A former captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah also joined the group during the distribution of relief items to the people who had been affected by the disaster.
Items which were donated to the victims included twenty two (22) sleeping mats, fifteen (15) bags of rice, two hundred and fifty (250) bags of sachet water, five (5) boxes of key soap, five (5) boxes of washing powder and five (5) boxes of cooking oil.
Aside this, New Africa Foundation plans on renting hostel and accommodation facilities for a week to serve as homes for victims who have no place to lay their heads.
Throughout the period, the people housed would be taken through counselling to soothe the pain they have been through.
