A 40-year-old man has been arrested by the police for having in his possession large quantities of old Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) road worthiness certificates believed to be fake and some fake fuel coupons belonging to Ghana Oil Limited (Goil).

The suspect, identified as Morris Adade Ansah, was arrested when the Ministries branch of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service was investigating a fight between him and his other siblings.

He was alleged to have kept the said fake items in the wardrobe of his mother until her demise.

His other siblings decided to hide the items but Adade Ansah allegedly fought his siblings which let his secrets out.

He is now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for forgery.

Confirming the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, ACP Patrick Adusei Sarpong, Director General in-charge of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), said the incident occurred last year but Ansah was grabbed on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.

Until her death, Madam Florence Naago Ankra, mother of the suspect, on October 16, 2015, called one of the complainants (children) and handed over a key to her wardrobe to her to keep, adding that his son, Morris, was having some belongings in the wardrobe and that should she die, the said items should be given back to him (Morris).

Three days later, the woman died and so Morris Adade Ansah came to the complainants (siblings) demanding the keys to the wardrobe to collect his items but he was refused.

After the burial, the family then decided to open the wardrobe of their dead mother and give the said items to their brother.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that when the wardrobe was opened, the complainants discovered large quantities of some fake old road worthiness certificate stickers, large number of Goil fuel coupons and National Insurance Commission stickers.

When the complainants questioned their brother over the items, he claimed ownership of them and demanded that they be given to him but the family refused.

This resulted in a fierce fight between the complainants and the suspect.

The police were later informed about the fight and during investigations, it came to light that the possession of the fake road worthiness certificates by Morris Adade Ansah was the basis of the squabble hence, and he was arrested.
