Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) have indicated their readiness to decongest the Kumasi Metropolis.
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Kofi Dwomoh Asubonteng hinted that KMA together with the RCC will soon reinforce its decongestion exercise to eject all traders and hawkers from the principal streets of the metropolis.
“The exercise is to get the site ready for development into a state-of-the-art market and to make the streets passable for pedestrians”, he explained.
Addressing a cross- section of the media in Kumasi, Mr. Dwomoh said that, “the RCC in collaboration with the KMA has established a taskforce which will take charge of refuse disposal in Kumasi metropolis”.
“Henceforth any person who disposes refuse in the central business district will be arrested by a sanitation taskforce and handed over to the the appropriate authorities to ensure sanity in Kumasi metropolis, irrespective of one’s political affiliation,” he stressed.
