Rev Isaac Mensah, Senior Pastor, Fountain Gate Chapel (FGC) , Sakumono branch, Tema, has affirmed the need to make catering for the needy an integral part of God's work.

He alluded to Matthew 25:32 of the Bible in which Jesus queried his disciples for not caring for him, and when they enquired of him when he needed their help he said "since you did not do it for these ones, you did not do it for me. "

The Pastor was donating assorted items including rice, sugar, milk, drinks, toiletries and a cash amount to the Teshie Orphanage as part of activities marking the fifth anniversary of the Sakumono branch of FGC.

According to Reverend Mensah, religion must be practiced alongside philanthropy adding that, "Pure religion and holiness is to visit the fatherless and the widow who are afflicted.”

"So we have come here to be part of you and appreciate what you are doing to put smiles on the faces of the children who for one reason or the other are disadvantaged," he said.

He asked God's blessings for those who donated time, money and energy to realize the occasion and also observed the difficulty the handlers of the children go through, and hinted on how "sometimes it feels like there is no reward" for their work.

Mr. Obed T. Mensah, a member of the management committee, who received the gifts on behalf of the orphanage, thanked the church for the gesture.

He observed that there were times when there was no money for the children to go to school "but God always make a way," he said.

In an interview with the GNA, Rev. Isaac Mensah observed that this was the sixth time the church had extended such gestures to the orphanage, and believed it would continue.
