Delali Alomatu, also known as ‘Tilapia’, has been jailed 24 years in hard labour by the Accra Circuit Court “One” for robbing a Court of Appeal judge.

The convict together with Isaac Agyemang also known as Batman and Kwaku Boaning who were armed with pump action guns and cutlasses robbed Mrs.Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkorno of her Toyota Fortuner vehicle, Apple Macbook laptop valued at $1,300, one iphone valued at GH¢600.00, cash of GH¢900.00, 50 dollars and three Bibles on December 8, 2016 at Baatsonaa in the Greater Accra Region.

The three persons on the same day of December 8, 2016, again robbed two other persons namely, Mr. Anthony Koduah Bediako, a banker, of his Hyundai Santafe 4 X 4 vehicle, one Huawei mobile phone, cash of GH¢350.00, and Madam Patience Hammond of her
GH¢5,000.00 cash, assorted jewellery also valued at GH¢5,000.00 five assorted mobile phones and a flat screen television set at Anyaa a suburb of Accra.

The gang after committing the crimes, went into hiding until the police, upon a tip-off, arrested Delali alias Tilapia and Kwaku Boaning at Kade, in the Eastern Region, on November 28, 2017, and brought them to Accra.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo, told the court presided over by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh that the convict (Delali Alomatu) and his accomplice, Kwaku, in the course of the investigation, admitted the offence and mentioned Isaac Agyemang, who had been arrested by the Sakumono police in a similar robbery case, as their accomplice.

He said that the accused, Agyemang, then led the police to the house of Mrs Justice Torkorno and later to the house of Nene Kwadwo Tetteh also known as Chairman Obed (first accused) who collected the victim’s (Mrs. Justice Torkorno) vehicle from the robbers and gave them GH¢4,000.00 as part-payment because he (Nene Kwadwo) had allegedly been sponsoring their robberies.

As of now, Nene Kwadwo Tetteh, also known as Chairman Obed, and Nana Kwabena Ackaah, are being tried by the same circuit court “One” on charges of conspiracy to commit crime and possession of stolen property, while Isaac Agyemang and Kwaku Boaning are being prosecuted for robbery.

The two are in possession of all the two vehicles the armed robberies forcibly took from Mrs. Justice Torkorno and Mr. Bediako namely, the Toyota Fortuner, valued at GH¢160.000 and Hyundai Santafe Sport Wagon also valued at GH¢72,000.00.
