Nana Asomah-Hinneh, Volta Regional Police Commander, has said efforts are being made to install area surveillance equipment at key locations and ‘trouble spots’ in the Region.
He said the security terrain in the Region demands greater police visibility and that the move was to increase surveillance and further reduce crime in the Region.
Nana Asomah-Hinneh said this in an interaction with the media on the sidelines of a “Regional Commander’s Parade” in Ho.
He said flash points and areas noted for large scale cannabis cultivation notably Nkonya, Alavanyo, Gemeni, the Gbi enclave, and others along the Eastern corridor had been marked for increased visibility.
The Regional Commander said the Service, under its "Transformation Agenda" was in the process of procuring drones and other monitoring equipment for urban centres like Aflao, Ho, and Hohoe.
He said robust police vehicles, motorbikes, arms, body armor, and communication equipment for personnel would be augmented to ensure efficiency with protection for police personnel on duty from attacks.
Nana Asomah-Hinneh said though some close circuit cameras had been installed at key locations in the Regional capital, Ho, the layout of the city warranted the use of drones and other aerial surveillance equipment.
