Professor Edmund Delle, a renowned dermatologist and a politician, has called for the promotion of local diets and traditional Ghanaian way of life to help reduce the rising incidence of none communicable diseases in the country.
He said the adaptation of foreign diets has led to high consumption of salt, fats and sugar.
Prof Delle said in addition to poor dieting, the desire for money is leading some to work under stress, sitting at one place without resting for hours resulting in high cases of hypertension and diabetes in the country.
He advised workers especially the middle class to rest, take off sometime and walk to their neighbours house to converse to reduce stress and stay healthy.
Dr Delle was interacting with the media at the end of a four day free screening for malaria and presentation of malaria drugs by 14 medical students of the University of Maine in the United States at the Koforidua branch of Rabito Clinic.
He called for more efforts to be made to promote environmental cleanliness to destroy the breeding grounds for mosquitoes to help reduce malaria infections in the country.
Ms Karen Hendrickson, Chief Executive Officer of Rabito Clinic, said over 600 people were screened during the four days exercise and 150 were diagnosed as having malaria and they were presented with free anti malaria drugs.
