Lovinghearts Geriatric Care International a non- governmental organization, that provides free medical and humanitarian support to the Elderly and vulnerable in hard to reach communities across Ghana, over the weekend (02/05/2020) provided foodstuffs and facemasks to Hundreds of Elderly in five communities across 5 Covid-19 affected regions in Ghana.
Led by their coordinators: Ms. Doris Kumah (Northern Region), Ms. Regina Kani (Ashanti Region), Ms. Cynthia Ayemin (Central Region), Ms. Hasia Suraj supported by Dr. Jennifer Asamoah (Volta Region) and Ms. Josephine Frempomaa (Eastern Region), the teams supported the elderly at Kpenoe ( Volta region), Ampabame Number 1 in Ahodwo - Kumasi (Ashanti region), Ankarful Leprosarium Community (Central region), Lahagu in Tamale (Northern region) and Otokpulu in the Eastern region.
Beneficiaries received Bags of rice, Tins of Sardines / Mackerel, Tomato paste, bottles of vegetable cooking oil, and locally made face masks. They were also offered Health education on the fight against the virus.
In an interview with Dr. Evans Aboagye, leader of Lovinghearts G.C. international, he revealed that available data shows that, the elderly are the worst affected by the pandemic in terms of mortality and morbidity, therefore, the need to make the care and support of them a priority in our bid to mitigate the effects of COVID 19.
He used the opportunity to appeal to other philanthropists, cooperate society and Government to join forces with Lovinghearts G.C International to support the Elderly in society, as the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic demands a collective effort.
