The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation is to commemorate the 2020 World Food Safety Day on June 7.
It would be held on the theme: “Food Safety, Everyone’s Business,” to highlight the innumerable benefits of safe food.
A statement from the FDA, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, noted that “currently there is no evidence of food being associated with the transmission of COVID-19.”
It noted that the burden of CONVID-19 was enormous adding; “We, therefore, do not need to add food borne illness.”
The statement said it was important that as people went about their activities at the marketplace, shops/malls and home, they ate safe food while food joint operators must keep food safe.
It urged the public to observe social distancing, personal and food hygiene and keep their food safe.
