Alhaji Baba Seidu, the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Deputy Chief Imam has urged Muslims to obey restrictions and support the government to contain the community spread of the COVID-19.
“Government requires support from everybody to fighting this pandemic and we as Ghanaians, must contribute our quota through adhering to all the safety and precautionary measures”, he said.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, Alhaji Seidu stressed observing the physical and social distancing protocols, wearing of nose mask in public places and complying with other restrictions would not be comfortable, but that remained the surest remedy to stem the spread of the virus and save the nation.
He advised parents to also contribute more to the fight by restricting the movement of their teenage and adolescent children while aiding and encouraging them to do regular handwashing with soap under running water and use alcohol-based hand sanitizers frequently.
Describing the just ended Ramadan as a holy spiritual exercise, Alhaji Seidu emphasised Allah cherished obedience, reminding them that Muslims who failed to obey the government’s directives on the COVID-19 disobeyed Allah, not man.
He underlined the need for the government to ensure that churches and mosques remained closed until national figures on the COVID-19 dropped.
Alhaji Seidu congratulated Muslims across the country for their sacrifice and patience throughout the Ramadan season, and reminded them, on the need to keep their surroundings clean and observe personal hygiene too.
