Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram constituency, Sam Dzata George has said he will not allow his kids to go to school due to the new variant of COVID-19.
This follows the reopening of schools across the country after schools were closed down in March 2020 following the outbreak of the pandemic.
According to the legislator, he would rather prioritise the lives of his children over school.
In a post on Facebook, the MP said: “After a deep reflection and consultation with Senior Medical professionals, my wife and I have decided that our children would not be going to school on Monday or anytime soon. As said earlier, better a missed grade than a grave.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced the reopening of schools in his 21st update on measures taken by his government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
In accordance with the President’s announcement, schools were reopened across the country on Friday, 15 January 2021 from Kindergarten to Senior High School while tertiary institutions were reopened on Saturday, 9 January, 2021.
Addressing the nation again on Sunday, 17 January, 2021, President Akufo-Addo told teachers and students to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols in order to avoid the closure of schools again.
“Wear your mask at all times. Wash and sanitize your hands regularly. Protect yourself. Protect each other. Protect your teachers. Protect your parents. But, please do not give me a reason to close down schools again. I pledge to do my best to keep your education going,” President Akufo-Addo stated in his address.

I sympathize with the youth in Ndc. When this imp asked them to go on the street to demonstrate cuz Mahama has lost election did he ever thought about covid19? You see, he is thinking about his kids not the kids in his constituency. With his ill-gotten worth he can engage a teacher in the house, what about you and me. Ndc youth use your head oo hmmmmm.
Who cares? But you had courage to incite your supporters to go on the streets to protest, and now what are you saying, . This man does his things like a child. You bheaved.like nursery 2 kids in parliament and now you are talking rubbish. Do you think Ghanaians are fulls like you?
Who cares
Like husband, like wife. Who tells you the only place you can contract Covid 19 is the classroom. When you husband goes to the parliament house and seen in the mist of the noise making NDC members, without nose masks and not practicing social distancing, do you advise him not to touch your kids at home? I do hope you process every decision that you make with the future of your children at heart.
This is rubbish, this is typically family decision, why is he telling us?. Then he should also stay in the house otherwise he himself will get the infection and spread it to the family
This guy is becoming liability in Ghanaian society . This information should be kept by the MP and the wife becuase do not care about your children school. Please keep to yourselves. The Mp is becoming an irrelevant in Ghana politics .
It's sad this guy we all see on the social media is parliamentarian in Ghana he look like mental diseable
I he disgraceful thing you did at Parliament on the 6th of January, 2021, don't you know that you could have contracted the virus and infect your wife and children, so it doesn't matter, so long as you and your wife move out you are all at risk. If you are doing politics too then it is up to you.
HYPOCRISY. WHY DON'T YOU TELL YOUR CONSTITUENTS TO STAY HOME?
So?
