The President of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has stated that currently the only possible solution to change the fortunes of this country is honest leaders with the character of discipline.

According to Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, the future of the country rely heavily on the kind of graduates being produced by the universities and other tertiary institutions on the various campuses , therefore the need to instill in them the act of discipline and honesty to prepare a future generation and leadership with good integrity.

He said "our major problem in this country is about leadership, and you can't talk about good leadership without talking about integrity , discipline , if we are able to train more students to be discipline and honest then most of our problems as a country will be solved , in Presbyterian University, Ghana we want them to build that character because no matter how intelligent you are without a good character you can't go far and it is difficult to progress in life".

"The Presbyterian University, Ghana stands for discipline , which stems from the "Holistic Education" we offer, our motto is discipline in leadership , we believe discipline is an important value to every human society since it engenders the ability to choose and do what is right at all time"

"A discipline individual is able to manage emotions , preserve against all odds and is selfless, truthful , hard-working and motivated"

He also charged universities to churn out graduates who are discipline and will impact the country positively and not necessarily awarding certificates to students due to their income driven objective.

Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu said this in an interview at the time the Presbyterian University, Ghana held it 20th Undergraduate Matriculation Ceremony for the Akuapem-Tema Campuses in Akropong in the Eastern region.

He revealed that , this year the Presbyterian University, Ghana is matriculating a total of 915 applicants in three sections comprising 331 Males and 584 Females.

The matriculation ceremony held in Akuapem-Tema campuses ushered in 26 applicants under Faculty of Development Studies, 11 under Faculty of Education and 44 applicants under School of Business and Economics given a total of 81 matriculants.

The President further expressed worried about the mass production of students in some public universities accounting to the over burden on hostel and lecture facilities saying it affect the quality of education.

He however called on the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to intervene and outline the necessary regulations on the number of students universities should admit base on the facilities available for them.
