Confusion galore, that will not happen anytime soon. At times one wonders what goes into the thinking of so called politicians in Ghana in some of their policy decisions. No motorists or driver has kicked against the payment of road tolls in Ghana. Infact if there is one tax in Ghana which people happily pay without qualms , it is road tolls. A minister wakes up one morning and decides to suspend payment of a toll that cannot be avoided if you are the travel on Ghana's roads as a driver. Amazingly they go in for a tax called E-levy which can be avoided legally, if i don't transfer money electronically, i don't pay E-levy charges, it's that simple. Currently heavy duty vehicles from our close door neighbors i.e. Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger which are land log cross over into Ghana straight to our ports of tema and takoradi to lift their cargo in and out without paying a pesewa as road tolls. Meanwhile Ghanaian vehicles that cross into these countries pay road tolls in and out. If roads tolls are not bringing in the expected revenue because some unscrupulous people are pocketing the proceeds, you don't suspend it, you look for innovative ways of plucking those loopholes, that is why you are in charge. Now you are bringing back the road tolls, so did we go or did we come. When people talk you say they are anti this, anti that. See the mess in which Ghana currently finds itself as if those in charge have never sat in the 4 walls of a classroom. In opposition they have all the solutions, give them power, they become an albatross around our necks.
