The Electoral Commission has concluded its timetable for the 2020 general elections and will soon make it available to the various political parties.
According to Dr Serebuor Quaicoo, Director of Elections at the EC, the election management body will soon commence the compilation of a new voter roll for next year’s elections.
Dr Quaicoo, however, dismissed claims that the EC has been late with the compilation of a new register for the national polls.
He told Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don) on ‘Ghana Yensom’ on Accra 100.5FM on Wednesday, 18 December 2019 that the registers used for previous elections were compiled in election years.
Therefore, at the moment, the EC is not late with a new register.
“In 2004, we compiled a new register in that election year. In 2012, we compiled a new register. So, we are not late to compile a new register for the 2020 elections,” he emphasised.
He added: “We have almost concluded the timetable for the 2020 elections and we will make them available to the political parties soon.”
