Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Misapplied GHc586,824

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has misappropriated Five Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand, 824 Ghana Cedis meant for development projects under the District Assemblies Common Fund Allocation to pay judgment debt and ex-gratia for assembly members.

Five hundred thousand Ghana Cedis was paid to United Domestic Metal Ware as judgement debt while sixty-five thousand Ghana Cedis was misappropriated from the Common Fund to settle Assembly Members ex-gratia. These came up during the Public Accounts Committee sitting in Parliament.

The Committee sat to consider the report of the Auditor-General on the utilization of the District Assemblies Common Fund and other statutory Funds for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 financial year. Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly also appeared.
