Asantehene Invites Parliament To Climax Anniversary

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has invited the Parliament of Ghana to the 20 years Anniversary Celebration of his enstoolment that will be climaxed on April 21, Easter Sunday in Kumasi.

The anniversary which would be a month-long celebration has various programmes and activities. 

Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante, Asokorehene and leader of the delegation informed the Speaker and Leadership of the House of the upcoming anniversary, during a courtesy call on Parliament in Accra.

He explained that the major part of the anniversary would be the grand durbar of chiefs and people at Manhyia Palace on Easter Sunday.

He said the delegation had informed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama and would also call on the Chief Justice to invite her to the occasion.

He said many invited dignitaries such as Ambassadors, High Commissioners among others were expected to attend the event. 

Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader assured delegation that the leadership of the House would be present to celebrate with the Otumfuo and Asanteman.

The Speaker, Professor Mike Oquaye commended the Asantehene for displaying the rich Asante culture on such occasions with pomp and pageantry.

He also assured the delegation that the leadership of Parliament would be present to celebrate with Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
