Muntaka's Retraction And Apology Puts The Issue To Rest  - Annoh-Dompreh

The Minority Whip and MP for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has retracted and apologized for an allegation of corruption he made against a Supreme Court Judge.

Hon Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka had alleged that a trusted colleague had told him that she had been approached by a Justice of the Supreme Court seeking to entice her to vote for a particular candidate during the contest for the Speakership of Parliament.

In a statement written and signed by Hon Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, he said upon deep reflection and broad consultation on the aftermath of the disclosure, he Hon Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has realised that the disclosure may have scandalised the entire judiciary as he did not specifically name any judge in the matter.

Hon Muntaka therefore expressed regret for the unintended consequence of his action.

The Minority Whip hoped the existing cordial relation between the legislature and the judiciary will not be affected by the incident but will continue to grow in the interest of the country.

The Majority Whip and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh in an interview with Members of the Parliamentary Press Corps on the retraction of the allegation by Hon Muntaka Mubarak said public figures must learn lessons from the retraction and apology rendered by the Asawase MP in connection with the allegation he had made.

He said politicians and public figures must be mindful of their comments.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the retraction and apology by Hon Muntaka puts the issue to rest.
