Parliament today approved the President’s nomination of 3 Appeal Court judges to the Supreme Court after the Appointments Committee of Parliament had presented its report on the vetting of the nominees to the House.
Prior to the approval of the nominees, the Minority drew the attention of the House to similar nominations which were made by former President Kufuor to the Supreme Court.
According to the Minority leader, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, these nominations made by the then President were seriously criticized and misconstrued by the NDC as “packing the court” with his sympathizers to give judgements in favour of the then NPP government.
Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu therefore emphasized the need for the criticism of government decisions and actions to be done constructively rather than on partisan grounds.
