National Womens Organizer of the governing NDC, Madam Anita De Souza, has boldly articulated to ex-president Jerry John Rawlings, that the NDC will no longer swallow everything he says hook, line and sinker, stressing that the time of breast-feeding is past as this is the time of adulthood.
Her remark was in reference to the general acquiescence albeit grudgingly by the party hierarchy to then President Rawlings unilaterally announcement of Prof Mills as the chosen one to be the NDCs flagbearer in his Rawlings stead.
The repercussion of Mr. Rawlings decision, according to Madam Anita De Souza, was the mass defections by some leading figures of the NDC leading to the defeat suffered at the hands of the NPP in the 2000 General Elections.
We have learnt from this mistake, and we dont want to repeat it, she added.
Speaking in an interview on X-fms Morning Show dubbed Big Bite, the NDCs National Womens Organizer said she is very much convinced that President Mills would win both the July 8th congress and the 2012 general elections.
The first victorious hurdle the president will clear would be over Mrs. Konadu, she predicted.
It is on record that Mr Rawlings openly stated during the launch of his wife's presidential campaign that he would not offer his support to President Mills, should he win the July 8th congress, because he believes he will lose the 2012 general elections.
Despite the position taken by the ex-president, Madam Anita De Souza was full of conviction that the founder will never betray his own party when his help is most needed, and for this reason, she envisages unity after the July 8th congress.
our founder is human and is permitted to change his opinions after he has made a contradictory statement, she said.
However, she noted that if ex-president Rawlings goes by his word and betrays party faithfuls by not lending his support to the winning team after the congress, then she would be forced to wonder the kind of history Mr. Rawlings would want them to write about him in days to come.
