National Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has dismissed reports that General Secretary of the party, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito is missing in action and has gone mum following media inquiries over the multimillion dollar headquarters allegedly being constructed by the party.
The Daily Guide newspaper on Tuesday, reported that the NDC Chief Scribe who holds the key in resolving the controversy surrounding the alleged $20million party headquarters has gone missing as journalists seek his head to resolve the logjam.
A week or so after the story broke, the newspaper claims the NDC General Secretary, who dropped the hint about the building in July this year during the partys Sunyani congress, has declined to make any public statement on the issue.
Several calls made to his phone lines were unanswered, as his party gurus continue to distance themselves from the ultra-modern building like a plague.
Mr Asiedu Nketia, in his report to congress, said, Fellow Akatamansonians, ladies and gentlemen among the many new initiatives we alluded to in Tamale was the headquarters building. We have told you for a long time that the party was subjected to a barrage of incessant demands from our landlord. We had also told you that given an opportunity, the party would want to acquire its own headquarters building. I am happy to announce to you that the party has acquired its own land and is putting up an ultramodern national party headquarters. Work is at an advanced stage and it is our expectation that the office would be ready for occupation by the middle of next year (2012) .
According to the newspaper, General Mosquito is playing hide and seek with the media.
But discounting the publication, Yaw Boateng Gyan said the NDC is at the moment focused on dealing with more pressing issues such as their nationwide tour to interact with members.
if you have serious work to do, you have to focus on that and relegate to the background the issue of who owns a building and how much it costs, he said.
National Executives of the ruling NDC have begun a nationwide tour to interact with members who are aiding in assessing the performance of the government ahead of the 2012 general elections.
The grassroots of the party will also be briefed on the programs of government and sensitized on their role in building the party ahead of next years election.
The Brong Ahafo region is the first earmarked for the exercise which would be replicated in other regions.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Wofa Boateng-Gyan debunked reports that General Mosquito has gone into media hibernation and revealed that he (Asiedu Nketia) is currently in the Brong Ahafo region.
General (Mosquito) is with me in the Brong Ahafo region on our nationwide tour but he is leading a different group in the Bechem area and I am with another crew in the Berekum areaGeneral (Mosquito) is not missing or hiding. I heard that he has gone mum about the building issue, if you have serious work to do; you focus on it and let the minor ones beThe work ahead is what we are focusing on so if he has not opened up (on the alleged headquarters), Daily Guide should let it be and leave us alone to focus on our work, he said.
He cautioned the media against pressuring NDC executives to comment on the alleged $20m dollar headquarters and also asked them to stop putting words in their mouths.
look, I have been verbally abusedeven vilified by some members of the public for simply making an honest mistakeit was a slip of tongue regarding the location of the NDCs plot of land, Yaw Boateng-Gyan said.
The NDC National Organiser was at the receiving end of public condemnation when he stated in an interview on PeaceFM that the NDC is putting up a party school at Oyarifa on the Aburi road. The location was in sharp contrast to Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretarys claim on Okay FM that the new edifice is sited at Oyibi near Dodowa. The NPP thus had a field day over the inconsistent answers being provided by leading members of the ruling NDC on the issue of the alleged party headquarters.
