A leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged the party�s resolve to play it fair in the next year general elections.
Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, said �we had no inclination to cheat and would do everything to ensure that the election was transparent and credible�. He was addressing an end-of-year meeting of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC in Kumasi.
He was upbeat about the his party�s victory in the 2012 polls, saying, with the biometric registration and vigilance, their main opponents, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would find it difficult to secure 46 per cent of the popular votes.
According to him, in Ashanti, the opposition�s stronghold for example, the Party would increase its parliamentary seats from the present three to at least 10. The Deputy Minister, however, encouraged the NDC supporters to accept to work hard and to loudly tell the success story of the Mills Administration.
They should help the people to appreciate the good job done to assist them make the right decisions on voting day. Mr Samuel Okujeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Information, called for clean political campaign devoid of threats, insults and intimidation.
He said the NDC has become more formidable following the return of the National Reform Party (NRP) and the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) to its fold. Mr Joseph Yamin, Ashanti Regional Secretary, urged members of the TEIN to intensify their political education programmes to win over more voters.
