The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Alban Kinsford Bagbin has for the first time opened up on the alleged frosty relationship between himself and his deputy, Dr. Hannah Bissiw, saying one needs patience and maturity in dealing with his second-in-command.
The sector minister admits the two have their differences but insists that contrary to rumors and media reportage, there exists no tension between them.
The two political figures at the Water Resources, Works and Housing Ministry have been in the news for some time now over allegations of poor working relationship and there have been extensive media coverage about the strained relations between the Nadowli West MP and his deputy, Dr. Hannah Bissiw.
Some claim Dr. Bissiw is allegedly eyeing the office and has been undermining his boss directives which have led to the alleged cold relationship between the two. Reports say Dr. Bissiw once turned down an assignment given to her by Bagbin to attend a conference in Ethiopia and rather took a short leave, travelling to the United States instead.
It would be recalled that in its March 9, 2011 edition, the Daily Guide newspaper even carried a publication with the headline We'll Kill You!..Bissiw claims Bagbin boys after her.
According to the report, Dr. Hannah Bissiw pointed accusing fingers at her boss for being behind alleged threats to kill her should the Nadowli West MP lose his ministerial appointment.
I even receive threats and I just want to say to those people that it is only cowards who threaten people and dont bring their names out thereI am under the protection of God Almighty and if God does not allow, no man can touch me, she told Citi FM.
But the Veterinary Surgeon later told the media that though she received threatening mobile phone calls from anonymous persons, she never accused Hon. Bagbin of being behind it.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia Morning Show on his relationship with his deputy, Alban Bagbin noted that Dr. Bissiw is a very vibrant lady who has to be groomed into the rudiment of leadership.
He further added that one will have to be matured and patient in handling her, stressing that even though from time to time, there have been some rough edges, he keeps his cool
Hannah is a very vibrant lady who has to be groomed and by her nature, one will have to be very matured and very patient in handling her. So from time to time, there may be some rough edges but it is my duty as a minister to be able to keep my cool and take her through the rudiment of leadershipDr. Bissiw made a late entrance into the political scene in Ghana, coming from Cuba so from time to time, there are disagreements but we are always able to resolve them and work together, the former leader in Parliament said.
