A member of the governing NDCs legal team, Chris Ackumey, has filed a writ at the High Court seeking the court to declare that former President Kufuor be held personally responsible for the Gh58 million loss incurred by the state as judgment debt paid to NDC financier Alfred Woyome in 2010.

Mr. Woyome claims the abrogation of his contract to renovate some stadia ahead of the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana was what compelled him to drag the state to court through which he was awarded the hefty judgment debt.

President Mills has directed the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) to investigate the matter.

President Mills has also said in a Radio Gold interview that he would ensure those who caused the beneficiaries to drag the matter to court in the first place are held responsible for the various judgment debt - including that paid to Mr Woyome -incurred by the state which amounts to about Gh2. 7 billion as captured in the Auditor Generals recent report.

Kwadwo Mpiani, former Chief of Staff

Mr Ackumey, who is represented by fellow lawyer David Annan, has joined former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani and former Chairman of the CAN 2008 Organising Committee, Dr. Kofi Amoah to the suit.

He is praying the court to declare that their illegal abrogation of the said contract is the result of the judgment debt incurred by the state.

The suit was due to have been filed last week but could not happen until today.
