Brigadier-General Richard Kwame Opoku-Adusei, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has underlined the need for understanding and solidarity between the military and the Ghana Police Service.

He asked the personnel to avoid petty squabbles and endeavour to resolve their differences peacefully without doing anything untoward that could drag the image of the military and the police into disrepute.
He said it was “out of place to see a soldier and a policeman not being the best of friends”.
A release signed by the acting Public Relations Officer of the Northern Command, Warrant Officer Class One Bright Segbefia, said the GOC was addressing officers and men, their families and civilian employees at an-end-of-year get-together popularly known as WASSA in Kumasi.

Brig Gen Opoku-Adusei noted that occasional unfortunate misunderstandings between some soldiers and the police could make it difficult for the two institutions to establish the needed comradeship for the common goal of protecting national security. “Please spare us the exchanges between the military and police, you are brothers and sisters.”

He reminded them that the security services are one body which should at all times be united to foster peace and security.
He warned that erring soldiers would be punished.
Brig Gen Opoku-Adusei asked soldiers to continue to remain loyal to the State, be more alert and exhibit high level of professionalism.
