A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Communications Team, Peter Boamah Otukonor has urged members of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to rejoice over the sudden exit of its 2008 presidential candidate, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.

According to him, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom always disrespects the party’s constitution and does what he likes without taking cognizance of its implications.

The Convention People's Party's 2008 presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has broken away from the party to pursue his presidential ambitions. He has given indications that he intends to form a new political party ahead of the 2012 elections.

Addressing the media on his decision on Wednesday, Dr. Nduom called on visionaries who seek the welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian to join forces with him.

Dr. Nduom urged Ghanaians to vote massively for him in next year’s polls to experience real change in their pockets.

But speaking on Asempa Fm on Wednesday, Peter Boamah Otukonor noted that Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has created credibility crisis for the party and that his exit will not affect the chances of CPP in the 2012 elections.”Dr. Nduom who calls himself a socialist is now dining with the opposition NPP, a capitalist party which tried tirelessly to destroy the party. Someone who supports the NPP’s stance in any national issue cannot see himself important in the CPP so I am not surprised about his exit”.

He opined that the founder of the CPP, Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah will be rejoicing in his grave that Dr. Nduom has quit the party because he was doing a great disservice to the party.

“Since Nduom became flagbearer of the CPP, Ghanaians do not know whether the party is still socialist or capitalist. Paa Kwesi Nduom has clearly deviated from the socialist agenda that Nkrumah instituted, through his posture, attitude and comments.”

The Convener for the Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP) stressed that Dr. Nduom has seen that he is in the wrong party and that he is quitting “so CPP members sing praises to the Lord for his exit... Nduom has seen that he cannot impose his capitalist agenda into the CPP so the best thing he can do is to resign and it should be hailed by every well-meaning CPP member for the bane of the party is now over”.

He asserted that Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom resigned from the CPP in order to lobby for the running mate position of the opposition NPP. “It will not be surprising that he is chosen as the running mate of the NPP within the shortest possible time”.

“Nana Akufo-Addo is struggling to pick a running mate and Kwesi Nduom will be a better running mate for the NPP because he is a good lobbyist. Nduom’s ideology is same as the NPP and I can boisterously say that he will be picked to partner Nana,” he asserted.

He lambasted the CPP’s 2008 Presidential candidate for being NPP’s mole in the party.” I know that he is seriously lobbying to become a running mate for the NPP that is why he has resigned. But since he has officially resigned let’s all watch out”.
