A former Works and Housing Minister during the NPP regime, Boniface Abubakar Siddique, has told Citi News he is ever ready and qualified to partner the party's flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, as running mate for the 2012 elections if the lot falls on him.
He, however, maintained that he will not do anything to influence Nana Addos choice.
Besides Boniface, other names that have been bandied around for consideration are Lepowura M. N. D Jawula, the Deputy Majority Leader, Ambrose Dery and the 2008 running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The former minister told Citi News that though he is very competent to partner Nana Addo; he would not tout his credentials but rather allow the flagbearer a free hand to make a choice.
I am glad my name has been mentioned as a potential running mate but we should leave it to the flagbearer who has the prerogative to do so, Siddique said. I am a member of the party and therefore if the party feels I can be a strong instrument of production to help the party win, then why not?
The party needs someone who can partner Nana to uproot the NDC. When it comes to academics or the expertise, Im there but it is not for me to talk about my credentials, it is for the flagbearer to do, he opined.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the NPP has said the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo will announce his running mate by March.
