The Volta Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are optimistic of a successful outcome of its parliamentary primaries in the Region on Saturday January 21st.
Volta Region is ready. We have finished all preparations and sure of successful primaries on Saturday, Mr Simon Amegashie-Viglo, Regional Secretary of the Party said at a media briefing in Ho on Thursday.
He said the primaries would be held in 17 out of 21 constituencies in the Region. Mr Amegashie-Viglo explained that the primaries in four constituencies were on hold on account of new districts having been created in those areas.
These are North-Dayi, Ho-East, Krachi-West and Ketu-South. Mr Amegashie-Viglo said 15 out of the 66 candidates including four women who applied to contest the primaries were disqualified.
He commended the media for its collaboration over the years and urged practitioners to be circumspect in their coverage of the primaries.
