Mr Kobina Ade Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Saturday said the party was poised to claim the region as its “Political World Bank”, in Election 2012.

“The peaceful nature of our parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies as well as constituencies with sitting Member of Parliaments attests to the fact that the party is well-organised to win about 90 per cent of the parliamentary seats in the region.”

Mr Coker said the NDC had initiated measures to mediate in misunderstandings that might ensue after the primaries and added that “we are one family and we have amply demonstrated it to the world,” Mr Coker told the Ghana News Agency in an interview after close of polls in the region.

He commended the delegates, aspirants and the constituency executives for deepening internal democracy and called on NDC supporters to unite and “push the elephant out of the region”.

Mr Coker appealed to NDC MPs who had lost the primaries to support the winners to win the seat with a bigger margin and also widen the Presidential Votes.

He said: “Now all hands on deck to defeat the opposition New Patriotic Party in the region...we must retain our seats and win back all the seats we lost in the last Election.

Mr Coker cautioned NDC members against complacency and rather support the party for a massive victory in Election 2012.

He also asked them to avoid intra-party antagonism, bickering and negative tendencies that could affect the party’s chances in Election 2012.

Mr Coker asked Ghanaians to vote for the NDC to have a second term because of its track record over the past three years, the personality of President John Evans Atta Mills and the pursuance of the Better Ghana Agenda.
