-In Nima Ayawaso Constituency & others
Progressive People’s Party (PPP) founder and bankroller, Papa Kwesi Nduom’s hopes of causing an upset in the upcoming December elections may be over even before the Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Afari Gyan signals prospective presidential candidates to be on their mark.
Information filtering in from the grassroots and constituents of the PPP does not bode well for the smooth orator, Papa Kwesi Nduom’s ambition of leading the nation as president, come December polls.
Some constituency executives of the Ayawaso East constituency at Nima who walked into the offices of The Al-Hajj over the weekend seething with anger, told this paper of the frustrations and disappointments characterizing the constituency and other constituencies across the country.
Led by the 2nd vice chairman, Tahiru Al-Hassan and constituency organizer, Mr. Mohamed Rabiu, the executives lamented over how national executive officers of the PPP is handling the affairs of the party which to them is collapsing very vast just as in other constituencies across the country.
According to PPP constituency executives, months after the inauguration and launch of the party’s campaign for election 2012, the Ayawaso East Constituency like other constituencies is yet to be provided with an office, vehicle and tools to ensure effective prosecution of its campaign agenda.
According to Tahiru Al-Hassan and Mr. Mohamed Rabiu, constituency 2nd vice chairman and Organizer respectively, “although our constituency shares boundary with the national headquarters of the party, we are yet to receive our national officers and the flag bearer and founder, Dr. Nduom”.
They also claimed that many attempts made to the headquarters to meet national officers proved futile as they are always almost told the chairman, secretary and other officers are not available.
This situation they contended is fast paralyzing party activities as majority of constituency officers are demoralized and disenchanted, rendering them inactive.
“I don’t know whether this is what Paa Kwesi Nduom has taught them on how to organize the grassroots”. A visibly disillusioned 2nd vice chairman, Tahiru Al-Hassan retorted.
They also accused the PPP presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of not kick starting his campaign in Accra and Ayawaso East to be precise, given its closeness.
According the Ayawaso East constituency officers of the PPP, the neglect of the constituency by the national officers and the flag bearer has also gravely affected the morale of the party’s two parliamentary aspirants, Pharmacist James Brown a.k.a Abeka, Sika and Islamic University administrator, Alhassan Abubakari Kamathey.
