Deputy Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Hajia Gariba Boya, has labeled the Minister for Communications, Haruna Iddrisu, a traitor in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Deputy Minister, who was allegedly attacked by a leading NDC member in the Northern Region on Sunday when she went to the salon to fix her hair in preparation for the arrival of President John Mahama, accused the Communications Minister of working clandestinely to scuttle President Mahama's reign simply because he (Haruna) harbours presidential ambition.
"Haruna has a selfish ambition to become President and so he pokes his nose everywhere...He wants President Mahama's downfall," she claimed.
Hajia Boya was allegedly physically assaulted by the Tamale South Constituency NDC Women's Organiser, Madam Rahinatu Abdul Rahaman aka Imma Kande, who pushed her (Boya) down and tore her clothes.
Narrating the incident in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, Hajia Boya accused the Minister for Communications of masterminding the attack on her.
"Haruna Iddrisu is behind the attack and i don't know why...he organizes people to beat others up when he doesnt agree with them...He mobilized the people to come and attack me and I know all of them, they are his boys and he was there himself. He was there...Haruna Iddrisu has never been happy since I was given the position of Deputy Minister; he thinks I dont deserve it. He has been doing a lot of things they are doing everything to remove meHaruna has never had peace since I was selected as the Deputy Minister. Haruna has poked his nose everywhere in this country;...he wants to take control of the party because he has presidential ambition. He is even fighting against the President. He is a bad person but I have been keeping quietI am telling you, he is digging under the heels of the president; that is the person people dont know about Hajia said.
The Deputy Minister, who is seen as a termagant, is reported to have quarreled with virtually every stalwart in the party.
She admitted having had a "slight misunderstanding" with Deputy Chief of Staff, Alex Segbefia over the issue of 'fun clubs'. She also confirmed report of a confrontation with Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hanna Bissiw, and accused Spokesperson for President Mahama, John Jinapor of slapping her in the full glare of an army officer after commissioning a Shea nut factory in Tamale.
She however, denied causing any trouble in Angola.
"They want people to think that I am quarrelsome; let them go ahead They are trying very hard to paint me black; but they will get tired and then they will stop" she added.
When the Communications Minister was contacted, he stridently denied all the accusations levelled against him describing them as false and unfounded.
Haruna Iddrisu, who demanded an unqualified apology from the Deputy Minister for making such spurious allegations against him also called on the Inspector General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye to investigate the allegations.
This wicked and malicious lies by Hajia Boya will not stand. I want the IGP to constitute an investigation into this matter and to make the findings of their investigations public...my character, reputation, personality will not be assaulted and mangled as is being done by Boya. God is my witnessour true characters will be known. In trying to drag my good name into disrepute, I take strong exceptions to that and she must retract and offer an unqualified apology to me. Its taken me years to build my reputation. To authorize a woman to be beaten; to achieve what? he quizzed.
