The Presidential candidate of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Hassan Ayariga has appealed to all political parties to halt their campaign activities to show solidarity to the victims of the collapsed Melcom shopping complex.
Speaking to Citi News from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Mr. Ayariga indicated that he has suspended his campaign in the region and is on his way to Accra.
He said: I will be heading towards Accra to come and pay my respect to affected people and sympathize with their families. Right now I am in Bolga, planning to catch a flight in Tamale so that I will be in Accra.
According to him, this is a national tragedy and the flagbearer of every political party should be able to build ties with the people and show some kind of love to Ghanaians and society as a whole.
A six-storey Melcom shopping center caved in on Wednesday at Achimota, a suburb of Accra trapping dozens of people.
