The General Overseer and Resident Pastor of the World Miracle International Church, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare has called on his colleague men of God not to take delight in prophesying the deaths of people in the country.
Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare, reacting to a prophecy by Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, advised him to use an appropriate channel to reach out to the Presidency.
Describing as pastorally and scripturally unethical the renowned Prophets option of using the media to air his alleged prophesy, Bishop Agyin-Asare said Rev. Owusu Bempah should have consulted with the Presidency or the Spiritual leader of the President before going public.
At the weekend, I read on one of the regular Ghanaian sites (Peacefmonline on the 08/02/13) that a certain Prophet who claims he has been prophesying the deaths of people, says the President will die this year...The statement put on air that His Excellency will die, was pastorally and scripturally unethical.
If this said minister was not gaining access to the President because of protocol he should have gone to see the President's Pastor who would have led him to the President, he admonised.
Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah predicted that Ghanas current President, John Dramani Mahama, will die this year but the impending calamity could be averted if the entire nation but especially the President sought Gods help through prayer. According to him, the earth-shattering prophesy was revealed to him on the night of December 31, 2012 and he announced it at the Churchs end of year service.
Rev Owusu Bempah, who confirmed the prophesy about the President, as well as other revelations in an interview on Adom FM on Friday February 8, 2013, however bemoaned his inability to meet the President and inform him about the dark cloud hanging over his head and the necessary steps to be taken to avert the looming disaster.
I have not been able to meet the President and inform him. A similar thing happened when I prophesied about the late President Mills, but they turned me away, he said.
Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah who is widely known for his prophecies about some bigwigs in the country, recently predicted the death of the incumbent President, occuring this year, should government slack in their attempts to thwart the consequencies of the prophecy.
But on Sunday February 10, at the Perez Dome, Bishop Agyin-Asare, in a rather terse message on the subject, advised him to be careful when prophesying about deaths of people since it could create panic and despair in the nation.
This is a message designed to create panic and despair he said.
The WMCI General Overseer explained that God has not called us to prophesy the death of people but to give them life and to intercede for them, therefore charging Prophets not to pride themselves with prophecies that seek to declare the deaths of people.
He therefore prayed for long life for President Mahama in order to nullify the prophecy.
By the authority vested in me as a Prophet and an Apostle to the nations, and also as one of the Spiritual watchmen at the gates of this nation and with the authority of heaven behind me, I declare that the president John Dramani Mahama will not die a premature death before his time, but he will live to declare the works of God.
As an Apostle and a Prophet of God, I neutralize anything prophesied against the President, spoken against him, invoked against him, any psychic commands and demands, any agreement of witches and wizards and I decree that the counsel of the Lord alone concerning him that shall stand according to my word.
Credibility, Character & Integrity Says Duncan Williams
Meanwhile, another renowned Man of God, the General Overseer of the Action Faith Chapel International, Archbishop Duncan Williams, has waded into the fray.
Delivering a sermon on Sunday, February 10, he cautioned Ghanaians to assess the integrity of some men of God since some Prophets foretell the events of life out of greed and selfishness which blind them to reality.
Addressing the congregation, Archbishop Duncan Williams said: Sometimes our own desires, wishes, personal passions, convictions, greed and selfishness blind us to reality, adding that: You have no idea what will happen if anything happens to the sitting Presidentthey say all kinds of things and people believe it because people are ignorant.
The Archbishop was also critical of the prophecy concerning the incumbent President since to him, if something happens to President Mahama, it will inadvertently take its toll on the nation.
You dont understand what happens to the country if something happens to the sitting President, people dont understand, the Arch Bishop exclaimed, adding that a Prophet must be honourable first to qualify to make whatever you say that comes to pass legitimateit is not just about prophesying.
He admonished Ghanaians to be wary of such men of God saying; look out for when you see all these prophets prophesying all kinds of doom on the internet against the Presidentis to ask yourself does [the Prophet] have honour, credibility, character and integrity? Where did he come from? Who trained him? How long has he been on the scene? Who laid hands on him? Whose product is he? At whose feet did he study? Who groomed him? Who covered him? Who was his teacher? Who taught him?
