Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has advised government to take the Minoritys True State of the Nations Address in good faith.
He said if they are able to put aside propaganda and focus on specifics it will rather bring about development.
The minority in parliament a few days ago held a press conference and gave what they call a True State of the Nations address; it comes on the heels of President Mahamas maiden sessional address which the minority claimed did not depict what is on the ground.
The minoritys address focused on a number of issues including fiscal deficit and arrears, overspending, single digit inflation, and many more.
Kweku Baako is of the view that if government will pay attention to the issues raised by the minority, there will be progress in the country.
Speaking on Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana on Thursday, Kweku Baako indicated: there is nothing wrong for the opposition to present an alternate vision. Thats what democracy is all about. This even sometimes brings progress because in the course of the debate a suggestion can pop up which will be useful to the government.
The work of the minority is to point out the minuses in a government and make suggestions. It is legitimate for government to be cautioned and it is better they take it in good faith. A note of caution is in order because government needs to explain to us what the truth of the matter is as far as the issues raised by the minority are concerned. It is the responsibility of government in the name of accountability to answer some of these questions he added.
