Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, believes that though the electorate has absolute right to focus on blaming government for tackling the nations challenges poorly, it was time to take a break from the whimper and beam with smiles and laughter for having a former Supreme Court judge allocate time to sue Nana Addo for impersonation.
This provides us with some comic relief, we are stressed as a nation, we have economic challenges, water challenges, energy challenges, there are strikes here and there so perhaps, we needed this in order to release stress. That is what he is doing, he sarcastically said.
According to him, it appears the former Supreme Court judge acclaimed to be one of the nations finest, is losing the prestigious tag which was attached to his persona.
He urged the judges to be appointed to adjudicate on the case to throw out Kpegahs petition against Nana Addo on the very day they sit on it. He noted that it was an absolute waste of time to give the petition time to sprout when there were serious issues to deal with in the nation.
Mr. Baako noted on Joy FMs News File talk show that he is baffled to see people who keep falling beneath the feet of Nana Addo with all manner of spurious allegations; continue to wander in dreamland of pulling him down. Dont they realize every single allegation that has been made against that gentleman has collapsed? And they would neither stop? he asked.
Justice Francis Yaonasu Kpegah on Tuesday March 19, at an Accra High Court sued Nana Akufo-Addo for holding himself as a lawyer since his name was not on the roll call of lawyers in Ghana.
According to Justice Kpegah, evidence available to him from different sources including the General Legal Council proves that Nana Akufo Addo is not a lawyer as he claims but impersonating one W.A.D Akufo Addo who is on the roll of lawyers as No. 1190. He also indicated that a check from the Ghana School of Law (GSL) confirms that Nana Akufo Addo has never signed the matriculation book to prove that he was enrolled in the GSL.
Dead On Arrival
But Mr. Baako challenged Justice Kpegah to produce the "W.A.D Akufo Addo" he claims the 2012 NPP presidential candidate is impersonating.
Let those who doubt that he (Nana Akufo Addo) was the William, produce that William they think he is impersonating. Where is that William, dead or alive? He (Justice Kpegah) should produce the identity, it is so simple. Those who are suggesting that the William is not Nana, where is their William? he asked.
He vouched that Justice Kpegahs case would be dead on arrival.
It is so painful, but for the fact that it is a matter of integrity of a seasoned colossus politician like Nana Akufo Addo, it isnt an issue. It is none issue! But for the fact that it is somebodys integrity, somebody who has been a member of parliament, an attorney general, a foreign affairs minister, a prominent lawyer whose name is captured in the Ghanas law report many times and has been part of landmark cases; so that it has had an impact on our government system,it would be no issueI would have ignored this and treated it as contempt."
"Silence, is perhaps the best cure for this kind of mischief. But because it is an issue of integrity which would actually impact on even the legal profession, the general legal council and the judicial service and all, that (is why) we have to deal with it, he added
