The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has hinted that the party might seek a review of the Supreme Court judgement read last Thursday 29 August, 2013.
The Supreme Courts judgement delivered after eight months of legal battle dismissed a petition filed by NPPs 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Partys chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey challenging results of the 2012 presidential polls.
Nana Akufo-Addo minutes after the verdict was read conceded defeat and was certain the party will not seek for a review.
General Secretary of the NPP, Sir John disclosed on Adom TV, Monday that the petitioners will hold consultations with the National Executive Council (NEC), for a possible review even though the first petitioner; Nana Akufo-Addo has accepted the courts verdict and has declared his intention not to pursue the matter any further.
According to him, the flagbearer (Nana Addo) was not the only one who took the matter to court so his decision cannot hold down that of his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and party Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
