A Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University for Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi has caused a stir, wishing that the firing squad era in the country, could be revisited to help flush saboteurs of the state.

Dr. Charles Marfo, without mentioning names, said the actions and utterances of some personalities who were drawing the country back from the path need to be eliminated.

According to him, if he were to be president of Ghana for just 24 hours, surely some personalities whose inactions were serving as hindrance to Ghana’s developmental aspirations would be eliminated via firing squad.

He was of the view that the elimination of such characters would do the country good as it would pave way for decency, respect and smooth national development to take place.

“If I am made the president of Ghana for just one day, some people in the country would be going to the firing squad,” Dr. Marfo unleashed the bomb in a chat with Kwadwo Marfo of Kapital Radio in Kumasi.

The KNUST Lecturer added that “if you want to groom any noble society, certainly some people have to be sacrificed,” adding that he was worried over the loose utterances of some people holding high positions in the country.

Kapital Radio was discussing the ‘foul’ utterances of Tsatsu Tsikata, Lawyer of the NDC and Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie nicknamed ‘Sir John’ General Secretary of the NPP.

The KNUST Lecturer slammed Tsatsu Tsikata for issuing derogatory remarks about Justice Anim Yeboah of the Supreme Court, adding that Sir John should have been reprimanded long time ago over his loose talks.

He was expecting that some powerful institutions in the country like the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and the Supreme Court would start stamping its authority to help restore decency on the airwaves, notably, after the 2012 election petition had been settled.

Dr Marfo observed that the GBA was gradually becoming a toothless bulldog that could not bite and this sad situation had paved way for some legal practitioners to utter unfortunate comments in the media.

He maintained that people who deserved sanctions should not be spared, adding that those that also deserved firing squad should have it administered on them - “this will make people behave well.”

The lecturer sternly cautioned that if care is not taken, politicians might plunge the country into chaos one day, lamenting that the country would be doomed if its destiny was handed into the hands of politicians.
