DOE ADJAHO, Speaker of Parliament, has called on politicians to emulate the successful life of the late Paul Victor Obeng, who was Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). He said the late PV was nonpartisan for the sake of Ghana.
According to him, politicians and Ghanaians in general, should know when their national interest is at stake and take a cue from the very successful life lived by the late Senior Adviser to President John Dramani Mahama.
He said, οΏ½I can only wish and expect that we learn lessons from his life, the very successful life he led so that we take a cue from it. At the end of the day, I will hear one of the tributes indicating that he was not very partisan partisan politics is killing this country; and we need to learn from PVοΏ½s life. The NPP, the NDC, the PPP, CPP, all are saying he was not partisan; and we should know when our national interest is and follow it there.οΏ½
The Speaker, who paid a visit to the family of the late PV Obeng together with a delegation from Parliament, acknowledged the tributes coming from across all the political divide and mentioned that it was not common for a politician to die and receive praises across the political divide.
More tributes have been pouring in for the late Senior Presidential Advisor who died last Saturday. Some top politicians and public servants since Sunday have been recounting their experiences with the late P. V. Obeng at his residence in Community 2, Tema.
Mr. Obeng served in the Rawlings administration and was a Senior Advisor to the late President John Mills οΏ½ a position he was holding under the Mahama administration until his demise.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has noted that Ghana has lost a great personality whom he described as a οΏ½unifier who was a consensus man, a bridge builder.οΏ½
Dr. Abu Sakara, Presidential Candidate of the Convention PeopleοΏ½s Party (CPP) in the 2012 elections, expressed condolences to the wife of the deceased and recalled, οΏ½What strikes me is that he was a man of intellect and great harmonyοΏ½οΏ½
Other personalities such as Dr. Addo Kufuor, former Defence Minister, also said of PV, οΏ½I remember him as a great patriot and committed compatriot. He put party interest aside. We have lost a great man.οΏ½
