The Presidents nominee as District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kumbungu, failed to get the nod of the Assembly Members, to enable him assume duty.
Alhaji Alhassan Musah, secured 20 votes, representing 59 per cent, while 14 assembly members, representing 41 per cent, voted against him, during his confirmation at Kumbungu.
Alhaji Musah needed to secure two-thirds of the 34 votes to get the confirmation as DCE for the area.
The Kumbungu District Office of the Electoral Commission conducted the confirmation exercise, which was supervised by the Northern Regional Office of the Electoral Commission.
As per the Standing Orders, Alhaji Musah, 61, and a former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, stands the chance of being re-nominated for the second time for confirmation within 10 days.
Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Northern Regional Minister, said failure of the Assembly Members to confirm the Presidents nominee was not in the best interest of the Kumbungu area, since it would affect its development.
Alhaji Limuna, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, who also witnessed the event, urged the Assembly Members, to rekindle the fellow feeling Kumbungu people were noted for and vote to confirm the Presidents nominee.
