The 2016 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said posterity will not forgive the present generation of the party if they allow petty squabbles and confusion to take the best part of their energies.
Rather, he said, the members should channel their energies into convincing the electorate to vote the NPP to power to take over the reins of government from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to better the lives of Ghanaians.
Speaking at the launch of a week-long prayer and fasting organised by the women’s wing of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo advised the rank and file to help restore peace to the party.
Restoration of peace
The prayer session, held at the party’s headquarters in Accra yesterday, was meant to ask for God’s guidance in the restoration of peace in the party.
As a human institution, Nana Akufo-Addo pointed out that, party members were bound to have conflicts but through rededication, the party would overcome its troubles.
Last Friday, Nana Akufo-Addo held a press conference and called on party members and supporters to give peace a chance and allow the party’s structures to work.
‘’The finger pointing, the name calling, the insults, the lies, the denigration of our past and current leaders must stop,’’ he declared at the press conference.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the two principles the founder members of the party instilled in the supporters, which had seen the party through many adversities, were the belief in the Almighty and prosperous Ghana.
He, therefore, commended the women’s wing of the party for organising the prayer session to “seek the hand of God to inspire and help the party in its affairs.”
The flag bearer also asked members to not allow the death of Alhaji Adams Mahama to be in vain but instead work hard to ensure the realisation of his dream of the party winning the 2016 election.
Nana Akufo-Addo also paid tribute to members of the party, both old and young, who had sacrificed their lives for the NPP to be established and sustained.
Pastor Moses Largest of the Omega Life Ministries urged party members to be encouraged by the death of Alhaji Mahama.
He said NPP, as party, could liken itself to the state of the Israelites under King David, who used prayers to turn their adversity around.
