Some regional executives of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region swarmed around the Asokwa Police station on Sunday 14th June, to await the release of Kofi Jumah who was granted a police enquiry bail.
The police were overwhelmed numerically by party executives and sympathizes who thronged the station to support Maxwell Kofi Jumah who was then under police custody.
Among them were Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, a former General Secretary for the party, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for NPP, Lawyer Osei Prempeh, a former deputy Attorney General, Mr. Ayisi Boateng, a founding member of the NPP, Mawusie Awity and Andy Owusu.
He was charged for causing unlawful damage to a photo album belonging to the Electoral Commission. Aside this, he has also been charged with destruction of electoral materials and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.
Maxwell Kofi Jumah, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa constituency was however granted a GH¢10,000 bail with a surety by a Kumasi Circuit Court today.
