President John Dramani Mahama has asked three Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) from the Western Region to step aside.
They are: Jomoro DCE, Sylvester D. Nuamah; Takoradi MCE, Captain Anthony Cudjoe; and Tarkwa MCE, Mrs Christiana Cobbinah.
The three have been directed to handover to the Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo by June 30, a statement from the Presidency said.
The statement said President Mahama took the decision “based on Article 243 and 246 of the 1992 Constitution.”
Article 243 and 246 state that MMDCEs can only be “…removed from office by the President; or he resigns or dies.”
