Leader and Founder of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] and the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] of sharing monies to electorates in Talensi ahead of the July 7, by-election.
According to Odike, he has observed the ‘money sharing’ spectacle by some NPP frontrunners in the same hotel he is lodging with his political opponents.
“Nana Addo and his boys are sharing real cash to the people. I saw them – I am in the same hotel with them,” he said.
Speaking on OKAY FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, Odike again alleged that – “The vice president [Kwesi Amissah-Arthur] was in Talensi yesterday [Sunday] and he dropped money to be shared among voters”.
Akwasi Addai Odike whose party is contesting for the Talensi seat threatened to seek justice at the law court after claiming “The EC is trying to rig the elections for the NPP”.
The ruling NDC, the dominant opposition NPP, the People's National Convention (PNC) - Progressive People's Party (PPP) and the United Progressive Party (UPP) are ready with their candidates for the bye-election slated for Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
All the contesting parties have the conviction that their candidate has what it takes to grab the Talensi seat after describing the by-election as a unique opportunity for them to capture the seat and go to Parliament, but Odike thinks otherwise; he believes his candidate is miles ahead of the others.
