Voting has commenced in the Talensi bye-election to elect a new Parliamentary Member [MP] to replace Robert Mosore who resigned his position as MP, following his enskinment as paramount Chief on Tongo.
Thirty-nine thousand five hundred and twenty-three [39,523] eligible voters in the Talensi constituency of the Upper East Region are expected to vote today in the Talensi at 74 polling stations.
The poll which started at exactly 7:00am according to Peace Fm’s correspondent, William Gentu is expected to end by 5pm.
According to him, all polling stations he has toured has been allocated with two Biometric Voting Device (BVD) to ensure that the voting process is not destructed in an unfortunate break down of the machine.
“Police personnel are also in post to ensure peace and order” he said
The Electoral Commission (EC) has expressed its commitment to conduct an incident free election whose outcome they hope will be accepted by all the contesting political parties.
