New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) are being treated like orphans because of their small number in the august House, according to the MP for Manhyia South in Kumasi.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called Napo in political circles, expressed sadness that because the NPP MPs are on the minority side, all their brilliant ideas to transform the country are usually rejected by the majority National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He has consequently appealed to the electorate to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo and all the NPP MPs in 2016 so that the NPP’s effective ideas and plans for the country could be realized.

Napo argued that Ghana could have developed to an appreciable level by now if the NPP was having the majority numbers in parliament and also occupying the presidential seat.

The Manhyia South MP was addressing residents of Odumase CPC as part of his ‘Meet Your MP’ programme, which had seen him visiting all the electoral areas to interact with the constituents.

According to him, the ruling NDC, which forms the majority in the House, always has its way through, especially when important national issues are put to the ballot.

Napo said because of the NPP’s low number, its MPs are unable to stop some of the ineffective policies of the NDC administration, especially when the topic is put to the ballot in the House.

He urged the electorate to vote in a manner that would help the NPP to occupy the majority position in parliament in 2016 so that the country could benefit from the brilliant ideas of the NPP MPs.

He also stated that the country needs an experienced and patriotic politician of the caliber of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to properly steer the affairs of the country to help stop the increasing poverty rate.

Meanwhile, Comfort Osei, assistant headmistress of Afia Kobi Serwah Ampem JHS, used the occasion to present a citation to Napo for his unflinching support which had helped to transform her school and other schools in the constituency.

She said Ghana would transform at a rapid rate if all the law makers in the country emulate the shining example of the Manhyia South MP, who is noted for being a development-oriented person.
