Atik Mohammed, General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to beef up security across the nation.
According to him, the Police should not only mount checkpoints to search vehicular drivers but develop new strategies to safeguard Ghanaians.
He proposed for the Police to begin to move around neighbourhoods to scare criminals or avert any criminal act.
He believed such precautionary measures by the law enforcement service will help boost security in the country.
He also told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that the Police should also look at the issue of gun licensing.
To him, the murder of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North J.B Danquah has revived the issue and in his view, it is prudent for civilians to appropriately own guns in order to protect themselves.
