Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt says there is an "impression" out there that some people are deliberately “stampeding and mounting pressure” on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Ama Kesson-Smith Osei.
He argues much as everybody has the right to critique the activities of the EC, “it seems singling out Charlotte Osei may be deliberate…”
Some political pundits have started casting doubts on the capabilities of the EC Chair especially following various controversies surrounding the Steering Committee.
However, Kwesi Pratt feels there is no need to ‘single’ out Charlotte Osei.
“If the commission has made an error, we should talk about it but to single out this innocent woman who is performing her national duty and to be punching her day and night when indeed the practical reality is that even some of the decisions she is supposed to announce are decisions she is supposed to, …I think it is most unfair.
"Everybody has the right to state an objection to things being done by the EC…but bottom line, these important decisions cannot be taken by one political party…when one party wants the EC to do only what it says, it becomes a problem,” he said during a panel discussion on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’ on PeaceFM.
