Government on Friday placed two key legislative instruments that would guide the conduct of this year’s elections before Parliament.
The Instruments- Public Elections Regulations, 2016 and the Representation of the People (Parliamentary Constituencies) Instrument, 2016- would regulate the conduct of the 2016 General election.
Mr Alfred Kwame Agbesi, Deputy Majority Leader laid both documents at the plenary of the House, to the chagrin of the Minority side, who registered their displeasure at the placing of such an important legislation before the House without serving members copies.
But the First Deputy Speaker, Ebo Barton-Odro, craved the indulgence of the House to allow the Deputy Majority leader lay the documents.
He said copies would be made available to every member as soon as practicable.
Mr Barton-Odro referred both Instruments to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee for consideration and report to the House.
The provisions in both legislative instruments would change certain structures in the Instruments that regulated the 2012 General election.
